Privacy Policy
ScreenStash is built on a simple idea: your screenshots are yours. This policy explains what the app does with your data — which is easy, because the honest answer is that we collect nothing.
What we collect
Nothing. ScreenStash has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no servers of our own. We do not collect, receive, transmit, sell, or share any personal information or usage data. The app's App Store privacy label reads "Data Not Collected" because that is literally true.
Where your data lives
Everything ScreenStash works with — your imported screenshots, the text it recognizes inside them, your boards, notes, and favorites — is stored locally on your iPhone. Text recognition (used for search and smart boards) is performed entirely on your device using Apple's built-in Vision framework. No image and no recognized text ever leaves your iPhone, with the single optional exception described next.
iCloud backup (optional, off by default)
If you enable iCloud backup (a Pro feature), your screenshots and organization are stored in the private iCloud database associated with your Apple Account, using Apple's CloudKit service. This data:
- is stored under your Apple Account and counts against your iCloud storage,
- is accessible only to you — we have no servers and no ability to read, access, or recover it,
- is protected by Apple's iCloud security (see Apple's iCloud privacy documentation),
- is removed from your iCloud when you delete screenshots in the app (on the next backup), and can be removed entirely by turning backup off and deleting the app's iCloud data in iOS Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage.
Photo library access
ScreenStash asks for photo library permission for one purpose: finding and importing your screenshots. You choose what gets imported. If you use the optional cleanup feature, deletion of originals from your Photos library happens only after you confirm it in the iOS system dialog. ScreenStash never modifies your photo library silently.
Purchases
ScreenStash Pro purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We never see or store your payment details. Purchase records are managed by Apple under your Apple Account and are governed by Apple's privacy policy.
Children's privacy
ScreenStash does not collect personal information from anyone, including children. The app is not directed at children under 13.
Your rights
Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to disclose, correct, export, or delete on your behalf — deleting the app removes all local data, and the iCloud section above describes removing backup data, which only you can access. If you have questions about your rights under GDPR, CCPA, or similar laws, contact us and we'll gladly help.
Changes to this policy
If ScreenStash's data practices ever change — for example, if a future feature required a service we operate — we will update this policy, change the effective date above, and clearly disclose it in the app before the feature is active. The current promise stands: no collection, no tracking, on-device by default.
