Getting started
How do I import my screenshots?
Tap the + button on any tab. ScreenStash finds the screenshots in your photo library and imports the ones you select — everything is processed on your iPhone. Your first import brings in your newest 500 screenshots so you're up and running quickly; you can bring in the rest right afterward.
What happens to my photos when I import them?
ScreenStash stores its own copy of each screenshot inside the app. Your Photos library is never changed without your explicit say-so: after an import completes, the app offers to delete the originals from Photos to free up space, and that deletion only happens if you confirm it in the iOS system dialog. You can always keep the originals.
How does search work?
ScreenStash reads the text inside your screenshots using Apple's on-device text recognition. Nothing is sent anywhere — the recognition runs entirely on your iPhone. Search matches that text, your notes, and board names.
Organizing
What's the Inbox?
The Inbox (in the Library tab) shows screenshots you haven't filed on a board yet. File one — with the Stash button, a long-press, drag-and-drop, or multi-select — and it leaves the Inbox. The pile only shrinks, so you always know what's left to sort. The All view always shows everything.
What are smart boards?
Smart boards (a Pro feature) automatically group screenshots whose text looks like receipts, recipes, travel documents, codes & Wi-Fi details, places, or shopping. They're automatic and never move your screenshots — a screenshot can be on a smart board and your own boards at the same time. You can manually add or remove anything from a smart board with a long-press.
What are sections?
Sections are shelves inside a board — split "Recipes" into Dinner, Desserts, and Meal prep. Create one with the folder button inside any board, then long-press screenshots to move them in.
Can I undo a mistake?
Yes. Filing, moving, and deleting all show an Undo option right after you act. Deleting a screenshot from ScreenStash never touches your Photos library.

Pricing and billing
ScreenStash Pro is $2.99/month (auto-renewing subscription) or $19.99 once (lifetime). Payment is handled entirely by Apple through your Apple Account. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel anytime in Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your iPhone. To restore a previous purchase on a new device, use Restore purchases on the upgrade screen.
iCloud backup
How does backup work?
With backup turned on (Settings → Back up to iCloud), your screenshots and organization are copied to your private iCloud storage — the same iCloud that backs up your other apps. It counts against your iCloud storage plan. Backups run automatically after imports, or on demand with Back up now. We operate no servers of our own and cannot access your backup.
How do I restore on a new iPhone?
Install ScreenStash, sign in to the same Apple Account, go to Settings → Restore from iCloud. Your screenshots, boards, notes, and tags download and merge — nothing on the device is overwritten or duplicated.
Troubleshooting
ScreenStash can't see my screenshots
Check iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos → ScreenStash and allow Full Access (or select the photos you want available). With limited access, ScreenStash can only import what you've selected.
Backup says "Sign in to iCloud"
iCloud backup needs an iCloud account on the device: iOS Settings → your name → iCloud. If your iCloud storage is full, backups pause until space is available.
Search isn't finding a screenshot I just imported
Text recognition runs in the background after import — a large first import can take a little while to finish indexing. The progress bar above the tab bar shows where it is. Search coverage completes on its own.
Requirements
ScreenStash requires an iPhone running iOS 18 or later.
