Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 25, 2026

ScreenStash is built on a simple idea: your screenshots are yours. This policy explains what the app does with your data. Your screenshots, boards, and recognized text never leave your device except through the optional backup features you control. ScreenStash has no accounts and no servers of our own.

What we collect

Never your content. Your screenshots, the text recognized inside them, your boards, notes, favorites and searches are never collected, transmitted to us, sold, or shared. There is no account to attach them to and no server of ours holding them.

Ad-campaign and purchase measurement, on both iOS and Android. Both apps include the AppsFlyer attribution SDK, so we can tell whether the advertising we pay for actually works, and RevenueCat, which manages subscriptions across both platforms. Details are in the next section. That is the complete list — nothing else is collected.

Ad attribution and purchases (AppsFlyer and RevenueCat)

To measure whether the ads we pay for actually lead to installs, both apps send a small amount of technical data to AppsFlyer, an industry-standard mobile attribution service acting on our behalf:

Because AppsFlyer matches this against data collected from other developers' apps in order to work out which ad produced an install, Apple classifies it as tracking. We would rather say so plainly than argue the definition. It is never sold, never combined with your screenshots or anything else in the app, and never used to show you ads inside ScreenStash.

On iPhone and iPad, you are asked first. iOS shows the App Tracking Transparency prompt, and if you decline, no advertising identifier is collected. Declining changes nothing about how ScreenStash works — every feature behaves identically. You can change your mind at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

On Android, you can reset or delete your advertising ID at any time in Settings → Privacy → Ads.

We also use RevenueCat to manage ScreenStash Pro subscriptions across both platforms. When you purchase or restore Pro, RevenueCat receives the purchase receipt issued by Apple or Google and an anonymous identifier so it can tell the app whether your subscription is active. It never receives your name, email, or payment details — those stay with Apple or Google, who process the payment.

You can ask us to delete the attribution data associated with your device by emailing support@screenstash.co.

Where your data lives

Everything ScreenStash works with — your imported screenshots, the text it recognizes inside them, your boards, notes, and favorites — is stored locally on your device. Text recognition (used for search and smart boards) is performed entirely on your device, using Apple's built-in Vision framework on iOS and Google's on-device ML Kit on Android. No image and no recognized text ever leaves your device, with the optional backup features described next.

iCloud backup (optional, off by default)

If you enable iCloud backup (a Pro feature), your screenshots and organization are stored in the private iCloud database associated with your Apple Account, using Apple's CloudKit service. This data:

Photo library access

ScreenStash asks for photo library permission for one purpose: finding and importing your screenshots. You choose what gets imported. If you use the optional cleanup feature, deletion of originals from your Photos library happens only after you confirm it in the iOS system dialog. ScreenStash never modifies your photo library silently.

Purchases

ScreenStash Pro purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store on iOS and by Google through Google Play on Android. We never see or store your payment details. Purchase records are managed by Apple or Google under your account with them and are governed by their privacy policies.

Children's privacy

ScreenStash does not collect personal information from anyone, including children. The app is not directed at children under 13.

Your rights

We hold no content about you — deleting the app removes all local data, and the backup sections above describe removing backup data, which only you can access. The only data that exists on our behalf is the attribution and purchase data described above; email support@screenstash.co and we will have it deleted. If you have questions about your rights under GDPR, CCPA, or similar laws, contact us and we'll gladly help.

Changes to this policy

If ScreenStash's data practices ever change — for example, if a future feature required a service we operate — we will update this policy, change the effective date above, and clearly disclose it in the app before the feature is active. The promise that matters stands: your screenshots and everything you do with them stay on your device.
